The World Trade Organization's Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (SCM) on 23 April witnessed rising tensions and "finger-pointing" among major industrialized countries over th eir controversial industrial policies that are undergirded by subsidies worth h undreds of billions of dollars, as well as the failure to notify their subsidy prog rams, said people familiar with the discussions.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is the most food insecure country in the world, with close to one in four Congolese, or 23.4 million people, experiencing acute hunger, according to the UN deputy relief chief.
